Eco-Flex is a water based, cold applied liquid rubber waterproofing membrane that remains highly flexible when cured. Aquaseal developed this product to provide economical and quality waterproofing for all types of residential or commercial construction. It is solvent free and non-flammable, and forms a flexible seamless membrane that provides superior waterproofing protection.

Eco-Flex has excellent adhesion to substrates such as concrete, cement blocks, bricks, stone, insulated concrete forms, wood, metal, etc., and cures to form a tough water and vapor proof coating. It is designed for exterior waterproofing but can be used on interior applications such as beneath tiles in shower and bathroom areas, or as a water and vapor barrier under a concrete sub-floor.

Now contractors, ICF builders and waterproofers have a quality, water-based liquid rubber product available for cold weather application. ECO-FLEX ASF is the first product of its kind that can be applied in temperatures below freezing. With the same waterproofing qualities as regular Eco-Flex, ECO-FLEX ASF is a non-solvent, environmentally friendly product that will tolerate mild freezing and still be good to use, with no impairment on performance.

The product must be stored at temperatures above freezing to facilitate application and although this product is applied “cold”, spraying ability may be impaired at temperatures in the 20’s. However, the product can be heated slightly to improve sprayability at temperatures near or below freezing.

How Does Eco-Flex Liquid Waterproofing Product Compare?

Eco-Flex is a liquid rubber waterproofing product that forms a seamless barrier that can be applied in just a few hours using a brush or sprayer. No waiting for concrete to cure, no priming required, and backfilling can commence as soon as the product is dry. Eco-Flex is very economical and provides good coverage - 200-250 sq. ft. per pail. Fast and easy to apply, the foundation of an average house can be completed by 2 workers using Eco-Flex in less than one-third the time it takes using a traditional rolled membrane method.

The other clear advantage to using Eco-Flex waterproofing product is that it cures to form a flexible rubber membrane with an expansion capacity of 1050% that can bridge settlement cracks in concrete. Many waterproofing companies use black tar based material on foundations because its inexpensive. However, the problem with this type of waterproofing product is that it has limited flexibility and as the building settles and small cracks appear in the foundation concrete, the black tar cracks as well, allowing water to penetrate the foundation and creating the wet basement problem that plagues so many new homes today.
