EXTERIOR FOUNDATION WATERPROOFING

For new construction or renovation of an existing foundation, installing quality waterproofing is the best way to ensure a dry and comfortable basement. Many contractors still take the cheap route and use damp-proofing, but this type of tar based product is only designed to ‘retard’ the passage of water through foundation walls – it won’t STOP water going through.

Spending a few extra dollars on waterproofing can save the contractor the expense of ‘call backs’ and the homeowner the expense and inconvenience of having to fix a wet basement once construction is finished. The liquid rubber waterproofing membranes manufactured by Aquaseal provide a seamless coating on the exterior foundation that will remain flexible and bridge any settlement cracks that might occur, keeping the interior basement dry.

ECO-FLEX

Eco-Flex is a black, water based, cold applied liquid rubber waterproofing that remains highly flexible when cured. Developed for both residential and commercial construction, Eco-Flex can be used on standard concrete or block foundations and also insulated concrete forms (ICF), wood, metal, polystyrene, etc. It comes ready to use with no need for priming or heating, and can easily be applied with a brush, roller or airless sprayer – the average size foundation can be waterproofed in 2-3 hours. There is no need to wait for concrete to cure, waterproofing can commence once the forms are off and then backfilling can be completed within 24 hours.

Although designed for below-grade exterior waterproofing, Eco-Flex can also be used above grade as a vapor barrier under exterior siding. On the interior of a building, Eco-Flex can be installed under the concrete floor slab in the basement as a water and vapor barrier, or under tiled areas in bathrooms and showers. With no solvents or strong odor, Eco-Flex is safe for the applicator and the environment.

GRAY COAT ALL SEASON FORMULA

Gray-Coat is a gray colored waterproofing that can be applied year round – even in temperatures down as low as 10F. It is ideal as a waterproofing for concrete or block foundations because its color eliminates the problem of over-spraying. Gray-Coat is a water-based, liquid rubber emulsion that comes ready to use and can be applied with an airless sprayer, brush or roller. It can be applied to “green” concrete because its water base will allow moisture to evaporate through the membrane. With no solvent content, Gray-Coat is safe to use on insulated concrete forms and cleans up with water.
